- Veltiro 500 50ml Solution for Injection is a monoclonal antibody containing Rituximab, primarily used in the treatment of cancers affecting blood cells, such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). - It is also indicated for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, microscopic polyangiitis, and pemphigus vulgaris. - The medicine works by specifically targeting and binding to the CD20 antigen expressed on the surface of unwanted or overactive B-lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). - In cancer treatments, this binding action blocks cell activation and growth, effectively inducing cell death to reduce the number of cancerous B-cells in the body. - In autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, it interferes with the immune system responses that cause joint inflammation, thereby helping to reduce pain, swelling, and further tissue damage.
